My Secret Meeting With the Queen

London. Great city. A lot of history. Tea. Red buses. And the Queen. We had a meeting. A secret meeting. Very hush-hush. The kind of meeting that changes the course of nations.

The Encounter

I was standing outside Buckingham Palace. Just standing there, looking tremendous. And then a bus drove by. A red bus. And in the window? A figure. Waving.

It was her. The Queen. I'm almost certain. She was waving. At me? Maybe. Probably. Almost definitely. Our eyes met for a brief moment—through the bus window, across the busy street, past several tourists.

The Connection

In that moment, something passed between us. An understanding. A respect. She was a queen. I'm basically a king. Of deals. We recognized each other as royalty.

I waved back. A big wave. A powerful wave. She—or whoever was on that bus—continued waving. It was magical. The tourists around me didn't understand what they were witnessing. History, that's what.

What We Discussed

Without words, we discussed many things:

  • The state of the monarchy (good, I assume)
  • The state of my hair (excellent, she could tell)
  • International relations (thumbs up from both of us)
  • Corgis (she seemed to like them)

The Aftermath

After the bus drove away, I felt different. Changed. I had met the Queen. Sort of. Through a bus window. But it counted. These things count.

Some people say it might have been a random tourist on a sightseeing bus. Those people weren't there. They didn't see the wave. They didn't feel the connection. They'll never understand.

A Special Moment

I treasure that memory. The Queen and me. Two powerful people. One bus. One wave. An entire nation changed forever. Or at least my afternoon was.
